阿弥陀堂は本願寺の本堂であり、内陣中央にご本尊・阿弥陀如来のお木像が安置されています。向かって右側、北の脇壇には龍樹菩薩・曇鸞大師・善導大師、南の脇壇には天親菩薩・道綽禅師・源信和尚の御影が奉懸され、北の余間には聖徳太子、南の余間には源空聖人の御影がそれぞれ奉懸されています。 現在の阿弥陀堂は、江戸時代中期の宝暦10年、1760年に再建されたお堂です。阿弥陀堂の広さは東西42ｍ、南北45ｍ、高さ25ｍで、外陣には285枚の畳を敷き、800名を超える方がたが一度に参拝することができます。 大正2年、1913年に重要文化財として指定されていましたが、平成26年、2014年に、御影堂とともに国宝に指定されています。

2 AmidadoThe Amidado, which is the main worship hall of Hongwanji was rebuilt in 1760. Its dimensions are 45 by 42 meters and stands 25 meters tall, with 285 tatami mats able to seat more than 800 people within the hall. In the central altar is a wooden image of Amida Buddha, flanked by portraits of six of the Seven Pure Land Masters; to the right side of the central altar, are Nagarjuna of India, and Tanluan and Shandao of China, and to the left are, Vasubandhu of India, Daochuo of China, and Genshin of Japan. In the alcove on the far right is a portrait of Prince Shotoku, known as the Father of Japanese Buddhism, and in the alcove on the far left is the seventh Pure Land Master, a portrait of Shinran's direct teacher Honen Shonin, the Founder of the Nembutsu teaching. Together with the Goeido, both temple halls were designated as Cultural Assets in 1913, and in twenty-fourteen, as National Treasures.
