5.阿弥陀堂門(Amidado Gate)

阿弥陀堂のやや斜め前、堀川通に面して建つのが阿弥陀堂門です。 阿弥陀堂門は南側にある御影堂門と同じく、正面と背面のそれぞれに２本ずつの柱が立つ四脚門ですが、屋根の正面に唐破風を付けた唐門の様式で、さらに檜皮葺であり、御影堂門とは異なった趣をもっています。 阿弥陀堂門は江戸時代中期の宝永7年、1710年に再建されたものの、江戸時代後期の天明8年、1788年の天明の大火の際に類焼し、江戸時代後期享和2年、1802年に再建されたのが現在の門です。 扉や扉受けの上部には、非常に繊細な菊の花の透かし彫刻があります。また、柱の付け根の飾り金具にはみごとな龍の浮き彫り細工がなされています。

5 Amidado Gate Standing parallel to Horikawa dori in front of the Amidado is the Amidado mon. Similar to the Goeido-mon, the Amidado-mon is a four post gate. However, unlike the Goeido-mon, the Amidado-mon has Chinese influenced features that are similar to those of the Karamon. It is said that the gate was destroyed by fire on several occasions. The one built in 1710 was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1788. At the latter part of the Edo period, the gate was reconstructed and is the one we have today. Along the panels are intricately carved images of chrysanthemums and at the base of the posts are relief carvings of dragons within the decorative metal coverings.

Têm quatro pilares com o telhado de estilo Karaha de curvas, e está forrado com casca de cipreste japonês. Há esculturas de crisântemos nas portas e nas laterais.
