この部屋を「白書院」と申します。奥から「一之間」・「二之間」・「三之間」で構成されています。書院造独特の静かで落ち着いた雰囲気をもち、華麗さの中にも繊細な趣を醸し出しています。また、「一之間」は「紫明之間（しめいのま）」、「三之間」は「孔雀之間（くじゃくのま）」とも呼ばれています。 これらの三つの部屋を仕切るそれぞれの欄間にご注目ください。「一之間」と「二之間」を仕切る欄間は藤の花と松、「二之間」と「三之間」を仕切る欄間は、八重椿と尾長鳥（おながどり）の精巧な彫刻が施されており、現代に残る貴重な作品であります。

16 White Wood Chambers The three chambers make up the White Wood Chambers. Standing in front of the White Wood Chambers, these set of chambers express a different type of serenity. The first one is known as the Purple Light Chamber. Historically, scenery that was elegant in style and detail, was expressed as emitting a purple radiance. Also, with its raised floor, writing shelf, decorative screen windows, split-level shelving, tasseled doors indicating the guardroom, and rounded-edge ceiling, indicates that this room is the main room within the White Wood Chambers. On the panels of the first and second rooms are paintings of Chinese legendary stories and rulers. The third room, which is also the entrance into the chambers is known as the peacock chamber for its motif of trees and peacocks. Looking at the rooms through the side panels, please take a moment to enjoy the carvings above the panels between the rooms. Each frame is made using one piece of wood. Between the first and second rooms are vines of wisteria and pine trees. Between the second and third rooms are the double-flowered camellia and long-tailed fowl. The precision and craftsmanship of these carvings are priceless works of art.

16 Shiro Shoin Este conjunto de três Salas, que estão divididas por portas corrediças, é utilizado tradicionalmente como uma sala de audiência pelo Monshu-Patriarca para receber visitas. A sala principal, Shimei-no-Ma, possui vinte e quatro tatamis e mostra características típicas de uma sala elegante. A sala de janelas de persiana está no espaço elevado, possui uma estante, o compartimento frontal, o conjunto de prateleiras desníveladas e as portas adornadas com borlas. As salas Shoin são formadas com pilares de madeiras finamente polidas, de modo que chegaram a ser conhecidas como salas shoin de madeira branca. Porém com o passar do tempo, a madeira cipreste usada acabou escurecendo. A terceira sala, ou a Sala dos Pavões, pode ser também utilizada como um palco interior do teatro Nô. As três salas que constituem um conjunto são divididas por portas corrediças. Da Segunda Sala, do meio, vocês podem ver ambos os lados as vigas magnificamente esculpidas. Da primeira sala para a segunda sala estão esculpidas com as flores de wisteria e pinheiros, de segunda sala para a terceira sala, as vigas estão esculpidas com os galos de rabo comprido e as camélias. Na Primeira Sala, pode-se notar a composição semelhante ao Salão Principal de Audiência, como a estante, a janela decorativa, a porta com borlas e o teto com painéis.
